Jean Béraud (Saint Petersburg, January 12, 1849 - Paris, October 4, 1935) was a French Impressionist painter, known for his various paintings depicting Parisian nightlife and high society. Numerous paintings of the Champs Élysées, cafés, Montmartre, with detailed portrayals of daily life in Paris during the era known as the "Belle Époque."

Born in Saint Petersburg in 1849, his father, also named Jean, was a sculptor and likely worked at St. Isaac's Cathedral around the time of his son's birth. His mother was Geneviève Eugénie Jacquin. After his father's death, Jean and his mother moved to Paris, where he began to study law until the occupation of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870.
